OPERATION ZERO at Sabattis Adventure Camp

Embark on the greatest winter camping adventure that will ever challenge you as a Boy Scout or Venturer! Operation Zero at Sabattis Adventure Camp (Long Lake, NY) offers a beautiful winter setting for your exciting winter adventure. A High Adventure Winter Camping Expedition at Sabattis Adventure Camp during Martin Luther King Weekend (January 16 – 18, 2010). Get your opportunity to Build and Sleep in a Quinzhee (snow shelter), Dog Sledding / Mushing, Snow Shoeing, Ice Climbing & Ice Fishing, Sledding/Winter Games and Winter Tracking.

SABATTIS ADVENTURE CAMP

The Adirondack Mountains challenge trekkers with more than 2,500 miles of backpacking trails and 1,500 miles of lake and river waterways for canoeing. For climbers, the Adirondacks offer rugged hiking and climbing on 46 peaks above 4,000 feet. Reservations for Sabattis are made through your home troop or crew – individual reservations are not accepted.  Small troops/crews can contact Camping Services at 973-765-9322 ext. 225 to get linked up with another small troop/crew.

PHILMONT SCOUT RANCH

Since Philmont’s first camping season in 1939, more than 650,000 Scouts, Explorers and their leaders have participated in the rugged challenge of its backpacking program. Philmont’s camping season is from mid-June to late August. Scouts and Explorers must be in top physical condition. Organized into crews of 7-12, including at least two adult leaders, participants hike Philmont’s mountains, spending nights at various backcountry camps. At Philmont, you can participate in a number of programs.
