Summer camp is more than just having fun and earning merit badges

 

WaterfrontScouts indicate that summer camp is more than just a place to have fun. It also offers Scouts the opportunity to participate in physically and intellectually challenging activities, introduces them to new and rewarding experiences, and provides them with supportive and caring relationships.

Please contact your Scoutmaster for further information about your troop's plans for summer camp at Winnebago. If your troop will not be here this summer, you are welcome to come as an individual Scout.

Parents are encouraged to review the Winnebago Summer Camp Leaders' Guide. It is the bible for troop leaders but it is also packed with lots of useful information for Scouts and their parents.

Safety

The safety of all campers is of utmost importance at Winnebago. We follow all of the BSA guidelines in the Guide to Safe Scouting.  We also require Youth Protection Training for all staff and adults staying at camp.

Camp Mail

FlagsScouts like to get mail at camp! It can take several days for the mail to arrive. So mail early - even before they leave for camp.

Camp Phone

In case of emergency, you may call camp at 973-983-9075.  Please be prepared to provide your son's name, troop number and campsite.  We will then send a messenger to the adult leader at the campsite.

ScoutsHealth Lodge

The health lodge is staffed with an on duty health officer and a fully stocked examination room. Arrangements have been made with nearby medical facilities for more serious cases. All prescribed medicine must be stored at the health lodge.

Trading Post

SkateboardThe trading post is the camp store.  Campers may purchase Winnebago Scout Reservation camp shirts and souvenirs, merit badge pamphlets (limited quantity), snacks, candy, beverages, and basic camping gear.  Merit badge pamphlets may also be purchased in advance at the council Scout shops.

Weather

The weather at Winnebago Scout Reservation can range from clear and sunny in the 90s during the day to clear and cool at night with lows in the 60s.

Summer Camp for Individual Scouts  

Can't go to camp with the troop? Looking for more time at camp?  Maybe your son wants to finisg up a merit badge?  Then check out our summer camp programs for individual Scouts.

  • VolleyballBoy Scout Day Camp - Come for a day, a week or more.  Work on advancement or just have some fun and return home at night,  Great for new Scouts and Scouts with evening jobs.
  • Provisional Camp Troop - Resident camping for one or more weeks. Great if you can't attend camp with your own troop, or you just want more weeks at camp.
  • Trail to Eagle Camp for Star and Life Scouts at least 13 years old.  Scouts form a special troop at camp and work together to conceptualize their own individual Eagle projects.  Special speakers and programs focus on the challenges ahead and strategies for accomplishing goals.
