What is Trailblazer Day Camp?
Trailblazer Day Camp at Camp Somers is a regular Boy Scout summer camp program for all Scouts. Camp runs Monday to Friday 8:45 am - 3:45 pm from July 1 through Aug 2, 2013. You can come for one or more of the five sessions. Lunch is included and bus transportation is provided from more than 50 locations throughout Morris, Sussex and NW Somerset counties. Busses depart at 4:15 pm.
Trailblazer Day Camp for Younger Scouts
Trailblazer Day Camp for younger Scouts moving up from
Webelos gives the Scout a positive initial experience with summer camp.
Scouts participate in our morning Dan Beard program which is staffed by
adults and Eagle Scouts. We emphasize the patrol method, provide instruction in
outdoor skills and work on
advancement requirements from Tenderfoot to First Class. After lunch, Scouts get to visit different programs areas every day. Aquatics is the normal focus from 2:00 to 3:30. This includes Swimming merit badge for Scouts who pass the swimmer test, and swimming instruction for the others. Scouts can also choose to work on any other merit badge offered at 2:00. Be sure to visit
our tree house for day campers!
Trailblazer Day Camp for Older Scouts
Trailblazer Day Camp for the older Scout focuses on merit badges, i.e. completing partials, work on advancement or just utilize the aquatics area or the shooting sports area to hone skills. If you are not yet First Class, you can also work on advancement requirements from Tenderfoot to First Class. Older Scouts often come to Day Camp because they have evening activities or a job that doesn't let them stay overnight. If you want a overnight resident camp experience, be sure to visit the link on the left for our Camp Troop.
